Do NOT despise your Judas It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. Ps 119:71

I would first like to wish you a Happy New Year and I pray that this year will lift us all to our Divine Destinations. 2017 was a year full of many pains, trials and tribulations to name a few but I’m here to encourage us to not let these painful circumstances to ruin our ‘day’, but rather to give thanks to our Almighty Father for the what He is about to do.

We often run away from conflict and pain, we despise those that cause us pain and hurt but I want you to know that sometimes our battles are a sign that there is bread on the other side, a breakthrough, a rain of testimonies.

If God is not into conflict, then why did Jesus send the disciples into a storm that he knew would happen? They saw a storm He saw as a stage – you thought the waves will take you down that the lightening will strike you but NO they are signs that God is our present help in times of trouble. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Ps 46:1 We may think that our comfort may bring us closer to God but sometimes when God wants to show up, when He wants to Manifest His glory he puts us in trouble. He can’t be a present help in our comfort zone.

Now I’m sure you are already wondering why I titled this message Do NOT despise your Judas. We all know who Judas was…. the one who betrayed Jesus thus leading Him to His death however let’s look at it from another perspective. Jesus knew how He would die before it happened – From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Matt 16:21.  And again Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.”  Matt 17:22-23.

Now if we say we know the powers of God then I’m sure you believe that Jesus had every opportunity to change it so that He was not betrayed right?

I mean we are talking about the same man that healed the lame, gave sight to the blind and raised the dead so how difficult would it be to change the role of Judas in the plan?

Ok so back to the topic… Judas was part of the plan.

Yes, they hurt you but look at them as one of your destiny helpers. Destiny Helpers come in many different forms….so that person that caused you pain can also PUSH you to your destiny (if you allow it)

Before I was afflicted I went astray. But now I keep Your word. Ps 119:66 Pains can redirect us, sometimes the absence of pain can make us not realise how much of God we need because life is comfortable. Now note I said CAN redirect us, so it doesn’t matter the type of pain (betrayal, rape, theft, divorce) there is an opportunity to see something about God that you will NEVER know in comfort, I want you to tell your self #ItHurtMeToHelpMe. So you can be helped by hurtful experiences, when we are in pain we find many different ways to suppress it (drugs, alcohol, food) or even put blame on the person and seek revenge but let’s turn to God. Let us choose to find the goodness of God It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. Ps 119:71.

Now sometimes we learn more reliance in God while we are in pain. If God stopped every chance we were going to get hurt then we would not seek Him wholeheartedly, we would not know His power to heal and constantly run from pain and not take necessary risks. If we intend to be successful we need to take Godly risks, if we want to mature, to grow we must take risks.

Pain is inevitable, in our marriages we will go through pain, our children may cause us pain, our friends even ourselves, we are pained when either we or others do not live up to expectations we set BUT let’s start to look at pain differently. Lets’ stop blaming others, it is time to use the pain as a stepping stool, a ladder to our breakthroughs.  Find the goodness of God in the ugliness of life.

Now I want to close by saying let God use your pain to elevate you. When you feel like you are drowning in pain, in hurt then I want you to cry out HELP!!!! God is waiting to heal you. I pray that The Holy Spirit overshadows every worldly protection that you use to suppress pain. This New Year let us move forward in our healing and begin this year with a new hope that we are stepping into our Destiny.

Compliments of the season to you all.

I pray that this New Year will be better than the last. Amen!!

This year, I would like everyone to take his or her faith in Christ Jesus to the next level. Most people tend to magnify their limitations, they focus on their shortcomings but the scripture makes it plain; all things are possible for those who believe Mark 9:23 that’s right!

It is possible to overcome that obstacle, it is possible to see your dreams fulfilled, it is possible to climb new heights, it is possible to embrace your destiny, you may not know how it will all take place, BUT all you have to know is that if God said you can, then YOU CAN!

My 1st Semester in UNI – Esther Ayani

Upon starting university, I wasn’t too sure what to expect, asking around really doesn’t depict the whole picture at all, and considering everyone Experiences University differently wasn’t helpful either. I planned to go into university very open minded, in relation to my friends, extracurricular, societies, etc. It took me about 2 weeks to completely pack, and it really didn’t dawn on me until the night before I left that I was actually leaving home. You don’t realise how independent and self-reliant you are until forced to be. But bearing all this in mind, I was prepared for the change and ready to accept the challenge.

I’ve been in university for around 3 months now, and it’s honestly the best experiences I’ve faced so far. The first challenge you’re faced with at university is friends. And making friends is literally forced in Uni. In the first week alone, I went to at least 12 socials. I wasn’t too nervous about making friends. But it’s so important. The friends you hang around with impact the quality and the type of person you are. I tried to make friends with people I know are smart, achievers, have a positive attitude to Uni, people I wanted to influence me positively. Like the good saying, sleep with the dogs, wake up with fleas, run with the wolves, learn how to howl. I endured that even though I wasn’t nervous making friends, I would push myself to meet people who were at Uni for a reason. Even though getting into Uni isn’t easy, there are still going to be people who won’t be on the right wave as you. I made friends with 2nd and 3rd year student. They’ve already been through first year so they have the best advice.

People say that first year is basically freshers. For me it’s not the case. First year is just as important as 2nd and 3rd. Of Course opportunities to go to parties, and hang out with friends will constantly pop up. The academic aspect of university is the most important. In Uni, no one is going to force you to work, or go to your lectures, or do your reading, or hand in your assignments. In my Uni, they don’t even tell you have assignments till a week before the due date. You are expected to read through the sunless handbooks of each unit. Bottom line is, you need to motivate yourself, and the quality of your work will show that.

For most people in Uni, it’s their first time living by themselves.

And it may be difficult because you are immersed in that environment. University is mentally challenging, don’t be afraid to talk about it. Universities make so many provisions for students if they’re struggling. Don’t be afraid to reach out, even if it’s your parents, friends, staff, anyone.

Don’t forget the child of who you are. Before I left for Uni, I had multiple people say that to me. And I’m happy they did. In Uni, it’s so easy to become side-tracked, to lose sight of what is important, to take time out for God. But you have to remember that if it weren’t for God you probably wouldn’t be in Uni anyway. Find a church you like, that you know God can minister to you in and speak to you in, and make friends in your church to. I’ve found it so encourage having friends in the same church as me.

Finally, enjoy. You only have the experience of 1st year once. Enjoy it, do things you normally wouldn’t do, explore. But remember the child of who you are in everything you do. University is definitely the journey if finding yourself, easier for some than others. Be open to new things. I want to wish good luck to all those starting university in the foreseeable future.
